Nandabasappa M. Wade is a Bangalore-based artist whose practice is rooted in a deep engagement with the natural world, reimagined through a distinctive and imaginative visual language. Trained at the S.S. Art Institute, Vijayapura, and further shaped by his studies at Ravindra Kalaniketan, Tumakuru, Wade has developed a practice that blends technical discipline with a playful, narrative-driven sensibility.
His works often juxtapose elements of flora and fauna in unexpected, sometimes surreal configurations in constructing vibrant ecosystems where animals, plants, and hybrid forms coexist in a space that oscillates between reality and fantasy. Through this approach, Wade challenges conventional perceptions of nature, offering instead a world that is whimsical, layered, and rich with symbolic undertones.
With over three decades of active participation in exhibitions, art camps, and institutional showcases, including regular associations with the Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath and Lalit Kala Akademy. Wade has established a strong presence in the South Indian art landscape. His work reflects both a continuity of traditional artistic inquiry and a contemporary impulse to reimagine and reinterpret the natural environment.
