Dhavat Singh Uikey abandoned his MTech qualification, to become a Gond artist. His exposure to art, was a result of his marriage to Jangarh Singh Shyam’s daughter. He had seen Jangarh Singh Shyam’s paintings and was drawn to them but never though he would paint.
Having spent most of his life in the city, Dhavat had never known much about the Gond culture, which he discovered and came to revere due to his exposure to this art form. In a short span of time, Dhavat has created a space for himself in the community. The animal world and the world of tales are his main motifs.
Dhavat has showed in a number of group and solo exhibitions across India.
